The German recovery will positively influence the Costa del Sol
Friday, 29 January 2010 11:00

Tourism looks with optimism to 2010 because of the economic improvements by some traditional key markets for Malaga. The clear economic improvement in Germany will definitely influence positively the tourism sector of the Costa del Sol, said yesterday the president of the Costa del Sol Tourism Board, Salvador Pendon.

Pendon, introduced yesterday the launch of a provincial socio-economic observatory and said that he is "very optimistic" on the improvement of the tourism sector during 2010 because it coincides with "the recovery in some markets that traditionally have had input to tourism at the Costa del Sol, such as the UK and Germany.

Other factors that also will affect tourism are for example the domestic market that partly saved the tourist in 2009 and that the recovery of the Spanish economy will once more positively influence tourism.

Pendon once again stressed the importance of tourism for the province of Malaga, and that after the collapse of the housing sector it is "by far the most important economic sector.”
